What Is  Investment casting?

Investment casting, also known as investment precision casting and lost-wax casting, is a near-net-shape liquid metal forming process. Each casting obtained through this process is the result of the comprehensive collaboration of multiple processes, various materials, and diverse technologies.Investment casting involves repeatedly dipping and coating several layers of refractory slurry on the surface of a fusible (soluble) pattern. After layer-by-layer sanding, drying, and hardening, the fusible pattern is removed by heating methods such as steam or hot water to form an integral mold shell. Then, through high-temperature roasting and pouring, the casting is obtained. Since the castings obtained by this method have precise dimensions, clear edges and corners, a smooth surface, and are close to the final shape of the parts, it is a near-net-shape casting process method, and thus is also known as precision casting.
