Description
In metal processing and jewelry manufacturing, Casting (Metal Processing) is the process of transferring liquid metal to a mold (usually through a crucible), which contains a negative film of the desired shape (i.e., a 3D negative film). Liquid metal is injected into the mold through a hollow channel, and the mold is removed after the metal cools down. Casting is most commonly used to manufacture parts or handicrafts with complex shapes. The casting process has a history of thousands of years, and is widely used in sculpture, precious metal jewelry, weapons and tools. Castings made by this method are also used in various industries, including automobiles, trucks, aerospace, trains, mining and construction equipment, oil wells, electrical appliances, pipelines, fire hydrants, wind turbines, nuclear power plants, medical equipment, national defense products, toys, etc.
Advantages
(1) Casting (Metal Processing) can be used to make articles with complex shapes, especially with complex cavities, such as boxes, cylinder blocks, etc.
(2) The casting can directly use the waste machine parts and chips with low cost, so the equipment cost is low.
(3) The size and quality of castings are almost unlimited.
(4) The shape and size of the casting are close to the parts, thus reducing the workload of machining and saving a lot of metal materials.

Casting (Metal Processing)
In metalworking and jewelry making, casting is the process of delivering liquid metal into a mold (usually through a crucible) that contains a negative impression (i.e., a 3D negative) of the desired shape. Metal is poured into the mold through hollow channels called gates. The metal and mold...
